Partha has just released updated compiles of both Gimp 2.8 and 2.9. There are both installer and portable versions available.

Per the website:
" I have updated Gimp 2.9 series to the git pull from today, April 12, 2015. The portable version has been updated as well. I think it has come a long way and I find it to be much faster than previous versions that I have packaged.

For the 2.8 series, I updated all the bugfixes as of April 12."

When Windows 32 bit?
One thought - according to me:
first 32 bit holders for the poor - then (for richer computer owners) 64 bit.
What are the statistics for Windows?
According to me, 40% of the 32 bit - do not forget us - poor people !!!
Although there is a solution - Linux.

But no python it's a fail

Hi, can I have a separate copy of Gimp 2.8.14 and retain a copy of Gimp 2.6.11. ? the reason I ask is that Gimp 2.6. 11 is no longer available for download, so if i download 2.8 / 2.9 will 2.6 .11 be wiped. I find that 2.6.11 is a very nice version for photo manips. I am running win 7 x64.

While a Gimp 2.8.x installation does uninstall Gimp 2.6 the reverse is not true.

Once Gimp 2.8.x is installed you can then re-install Gimp 2.6.x

The mirrors are still there, not sure about Australia, sticking with educational establishments as the most reliable.

A default installation installs to C:\Program Files\Gimp-2.0 (no space) or the x86 for 32 bit and on first run creates a profile gimp-2.6.

Never tried the 64bit versions.
