Hi all!

Some of you may know this already, but for those that don't I am in the midst of creating a new website for GIMP. I'm slowly migrating old content over to the new site infrastructure as well as redesigning a few things.

I am currently focusing on highlighting the core values of GIMP as defined by the vision statement from a few years back (which haven't really changed as far as I can tell). I have a section where I am including some small verbiage around each of the focus areas, and one of them is:

Quote:
GIMP is a high-end application for producing icons, graphical elements of web pages and art for user interface elements

I have some text, but I am trying to keep things visually interesting when visiting the page. This is why I'm posting here. :)

If someone has some good examples/results of GIMP being used for doing this type of design, and would be willing to share them with a permissive license, that would be _awesome_. :) I can't guarantee that I will use anything that does get shared, but if I do I will be sure to credit the artist.

I saved the neat part for last.
The page is currently semi-live while I work on things. Don't go sharing it just yet, as it's not ready for primetime. I am looking for some collection of graphic design objects that are created in GIMP as examples for the section "Graphic Design Elements" if anyone is interested... :)

I'm looking forward to seeing how it all turns out. It looks like you've spent time thinking about putting it together and so far what I see is very attractive.

Good job! Keep on working on it. :bigthup

Don’t be afraid to start over. It’s a new chance to rebuild what you want.

Looks as if it will be quite impressive. Is the page layout part of goal for mobile friendliness?
As for the date format, I like those kind of dates ( But I come from a codding background so I appreciate the precision), but I think that most people will simply see it as a string of numbers and letters. If you are going to include any kind of user feedback (forum, wiki, et.al) I would let date format be a user option, and I would consider a simpler format for the main site (dates). But that's just MHO.

The MK-2 has been built. Should this be the next question?

Looking good Pat. Great work so far in my opinion.

The page is responsive for different screen sizes, if that's what you mean. Try viewing it on a mobile device or tablet, you'll see what I mean. (Or just change the width of your browser window while viewing the page).

It's just good practice these days to start responsive and progressively enhance as desired.
