Hi, if i create a layer, then a shape on that layer that i fill with a colour,
then i create another layer with another different shape.
I add a mask to the top layer so part of the shape below shows through,
but then try to use any of the transform tools except the move tool on that layer, the mask moves differently to the layer, I'm sure it didn't used to do that,?
the move tool does move both the layer & mask in sync with each other,
I can move the mask correctly independently by clicking on the mask but clicking on the layer used to automatically inc the mask to be transformed in the same manner,?
Am i doing something wrong, do i have to now apply the mask before transforming that layer?
Thanks

(I just reloaded GIMP 2.10.8 in case something had got lost )

You may have to apply the mask to that layer before transforming. I think I had this problem last night and applying solved it.
Make sure you have done all you need with that mask.
You should be able to add another mask after transforming if you need to but you won't be able to undo anything you have already done.

Hi, yeah that's what I wrote, I'm pretty sure I was able to do transformations before applying the mask before? Is that right?

Can't answer that, sorry Gid Joiner. Some others here may be able to tell you or try https://discuss.pixls.us/

It is probably a bug, since it works as expected in Gimp 2.8

However, for Gimp 2.10 try setting Clipping to Clip in tool options for whatever transform tool in use at the time.

Like Rich said, it might be a bug. But also it might be with your Gimp, my object moves with the Mask. Try to reinstall Gimp.

I reported this as a bug, but already reported

Quote:
This is a duplicate of #2473 (closed), which is already fixed in git. Frankly, I'm surprised it took that long for someone else to notice :)

So, should be fixed when Gimp 2.10.10 comes along.

Thanks, that'd be good, after having chance to play with it a little & reloading Gimp 2.10.8 (which didn't fix it) although the clip feature does make it work in sync it does crop anything out side the canvas area,
