And the new GEGL functions will pretty much obsolete the old scripting option. Would be nice if gimp scripts would zip all the scripts and send them to the internet archive for those who want them.

Which is why a lot of people will stick to Gimp 2.10 for a while...

Once GMIC works on Gimp 2.99.19/RC1 it will be irrational for me to use Gimp 2.10

GMIC is the only holdout for me

You're lucky :bigthup , I suppose that you don't really use paths (for example)

yes, I currently have a monopoly on Gimp plugins. GMIC, Script Fu and Python stuff are not working but my plugins are just fine.

I didn't intend this.

Can GEGL plugin like yours create new layers?

I must admit that Mahvin's decision also surprised me a bit.
However, the statistics do not look very interesting - the monthly number of views does not exceed 20,000 (i.e. on average about 300 per day).

However, Mahvin declares that it is possible to transfer gimpscripts.net to a person interested in taking it over (with the waiver of the website name and leaving it open until it is transferred to its own hosting).
You can also create a page mirror for yourself .
I consider it pointless to place just plug-ins "somewhere" without describing their purpose.

Not in Gimp but GEGL has a something called composers that function as virtual layers and blend modes

gegl:src = replace blend mode
gegl:over = normal blend mode
gegl:dst-over = behind blend mode
gegl:src-atop = normal blend mode alpha locked
gegl:src-in = replace blend mode alpha locked

The others are self obvious blend modes like

gegl:overlay
gegl:multiply
gimp:layer-mode layer-mode=grain-merge
gimp:layer-mode layer-mode=vivid-light

In Gimp everything is applied in one layer, but GEGL has an internal "layer like" system.

You can wget the website https://www.gimpscripts.net/ but that did not download the script files

For the files I had to wget https://mahvin.bplaced.net/gimpscripts/

Downloading everything in one go with this
wget -e robots=off --reject="index.html*" --no-parent --recursive --relative --level=1 --no-directories https://mahvin.bplaced.net/gimpscripts/

Image

EDIT: Total Downloaded: 583 files, 470M
