Mine just installed as 64-bit Graechan; not sure if there is an option in custom install for yea or nay since I really didn't pay attention to that. There may not be an option; if you have a 64-bit OS this you will have a 64-bit install. If you indeed have a 64-bit OS and it installed as a 32-bit OS, then I have no answer for you. :)

It removed my access to the plugin and procedure browsers in 2-6-11

Not for long. I should be ready soon with the regular and portable versions.

That's why. You already had a 2.8 folder. :)
It didn't need to copy the gimp-2.6 folder.

Weird how it kept your Gimp-2.0 install though.
I chose custom install though also so maybe that is the difference.
I did however install it to its default location Gimp-2.

Will you have 64-bit versions of 2.8 as well?

No Graechan; I did a custom install so I was able to choose the name for where I wanted GIMP 2.8 to be and I chose GIMP2.8 as the name for the directly. If you did an auto-install you had no choice. Apparently with auto-install, it doesn't un-install 2.6 though. Definitely weird. :)

I think they did that so no conflicts with any ver changes of libraries that each version might use .

Yes except that
1 there is not any need to do that in case of gimp (because even in the no portable version the libraries are self contained)
2 try to import addon from previous version (as far i understand the installer does that) not only nullify the utility of the unistall BUT
may be well cause of a lot of conflicts and silly warnings

I must admit i didn't personally check if the 2.8 installer still try (as the previous for the 2.8rc) to import for older version, but for sure point 1 seems sufficent

All my older plug-ins work in Gimp-2.8 and i didn't remember to check for that either PC. So it must just work out of the box or maybe when you select customize it auto checks everything for you. :)

I renamed my user directories (older GIMP) before installing 2.8 PC. Tried to do the same for the 2.6.12 direcotry itself, but the 2.8 installer had a conniption when I did that so I let it uninstall 2.6.12. lol

:)

You are stressing too much to fight with that Win installer.. :rofl .

if you wait a few hours (max 24 ) i should come out with a nice surprise for both 32 and 64 bit...

and even compatible with 2.6.... :yes :gimp

I would be fine being the guinea but I don't want GAP. >:P Too many scripts for me to clean out if needed.
