That is much more rare than a font not loaded but with may happen :
gimp doesn't like 1 or more of your fonts the only solution is delete the font(s) causing problem
gimp 2.6 uses different libraries to read the font sso is quite possible that the some font that did not work with 2.8 was working in 2.6 .. and vice versa

There are problems with the representation of fonts in GIMP 2.8.0 portable Windows with these versions :
- Gimp 2.8.0 64 bits SourceForge
- Gimp 2.8.0 64 bits Partha
- Gimp 2.8.0 32 bits SourceForge

The "Gimp 2.8.0 32 bits Partha" version seems to represent all characters.

do you have more details ?
actually i use often the 2.8 64 bit portable , i have more then 3000 fonts and i didn't noticed any unexpected problem yet, i mean not more then usually with gimp 2.6 :
all system fonts seem to show up as most of the custom font added, a few are not displayed and very few only show empty boxes instead then the original letters or glyphs and luckily none ignite crashes or fatal errors (at least not at loading time, but i did not stumble yet in any that does when using the text tool)

So don't seems worse than usual 2.6 behavior and not even my font manager or photoshop seems able to read all my fonts there are always a few, varying from the SW i use to apply them, that are not usable (in the viewer are not displayed or are displayed as empty boxes)

COME AVVIARE

Intanto estrai la folder dalla zip poi

Tutte e 2 le versioni offrono 2 modalita :

1) puoi chiamarla Basic : solo le componenti "Standard" vengono attivati:
quindi si avvia più velocemente e offre menu meno affollati
Grosso modo corrisponde allo standard Gimp ma in più ha l'help preinstallato (però in Inglese )
un plugin per aprire foto da fotocamere digitali e alcuni plugin che originariamente offrivano una
finestra per l'anteprima troppo piccola per essere utile, sono stati corretti per rendere l'anteprima utilizzabile

per partire in questa modalita clicca su Gimp_IT.exe
Puoi anche cliccare con il pulsante destro, e sciegliere dal menu che apparira "Invia a/ desktop"
per creare una scorciatoia...insomma per poter avviare da li, dal desktop, senza bisogno di riaprire la cartella

2) Avanzata o "PC_Lab"
Fa partire la versione completa con tutti gli extra :
Ci mettera di più ad avviarsi ( e per la versione a 32 bit mostrera avviandosi una serie lampeggiante di finestre ..nulla di cui preoccuparsi !! )

per avviarlo clicca su

PC-LAB_System_Language.exe

("System Language" vuol dire che usera il linguaggio usato dal computer quindi nel tuo caso italiano)

Anche inquesto caso puoi creare nello stesso modo un link sul desktop per poter avviare in questa modalita senza dover cercare e riaprire la cartella

NON mettere la cartella in "Program Files " ,insomma nella cartella Programmi:
Vista e 7 mettono un blocco in "programmi" che puo bloccare alcune funzioni

Qualsiasi altro posto va bene :
semplicemente in C, in Documenti, ..e visto che anche portabile puo anche essere in una chiavetta USB o in un hard disk esterno, va tutto bene salvo in "Programmi"

Sono in ritardo sui miei programmi per aggiornarle ma non c'è molto da aggiornare ed è facile farlo, tutti gli extra sono nella cartella "PhotoComix" divisi in categorie (plugin script etc) e sottocategorie

Da aggiornare dovrebbe esserci sopratutto GMIC che trovi in una sua cartella, basta che rimpiazzi il contenuto della cartella con quello della nuova versione. ... e comunque la versione inclusa funziona bene, è che il suo lo sviluppatore aggiorna in media una volta a settimana ed è difficile aggiornare al suo ritmo
