We've been hit 6 or 7 times by spammers from China that use 4 sequential letters from the English (Latin) alphabet plus some numbers.

They have been banned and they and any of their posts deleted. Most have not had a chance to post anything and some had not even confirmed their membership before they were dumped.

Members play an important role in reporting spam and are often our first line of defense. In the lower right corner of all posts is an icon to click to report spam or an objectionable post . Simply click the icon and in the drop down you can choose what kind of post it is. Submitting it sends a report to the staff.

By having the 15 most recent posts at the top of the front page of Gimp Chat, spammers get foiled because they can't escape being seen as soon as they post, but sometimes their spam gets buried by another post after their posts.

I abhor spammers and block their accounts on the registry. It prevents them from re-using the account, forcing them to create a new one. Some spammers, believe it or not, have re-activated old accounts (over 1 year old) and spammed with them. (Which is why I started blocking them, instead of deleting them). They can't re-use an old username, that way.

I believe spammers is what has taken down GIMPTalk to a point where the site itself has been infected. It was down earlier today (not sure if now; didn't bother rechecking). Again, I do hope GIMPChat doesn't get infected.

But in my mail i get such beautiful letters from spammers, some have a real talent as novelist

I have time to read only a few, but the plots where so fascinating....
Kings, Princess, daughters and wifes of Dictators of exotic contries ( murdered by blood thirsty rebel) that somehow managed to escape with tons of gold and diamonds , that now can be recovered only with my help

And Ex chief of CIA ,KBG and even DEA all of them needing my help to recover without risks all what robbed in Iraq, Cecenia, and to gangs of Colombian Narcos

Millions and millions of dollars just waiting me,and amazing opportunity for business...

Maybe we may really get rich beyond hope thank to them...we just need to rip their best novels ,adjust few details copyright everything and found a good editor...
