I'm only guessing, but if I'm going to run Gimp 2.8 on my new computer. I should install Python before I install Gimp right?

No, on Windows the Gimp 2.8 installers also install a built-in Python interpreter.

(but i you intend to write your own Python scripts, you can also install an independent Python 2.7, this will make it easier for you to try things in Python outside of Gimp).

I didn't know that 2.8 had a "built-in Python interpreter". :yes
I did download Python 2.7 and the Python interpreter. I'm not going to do any script writing, so I guess I can send then packing.
Wait! I'm also going to install 2.6 on the new machine, so I'll keep those files around for that.
Thanks Ofnuts. :bigthup
