Ok finnally got python working. Now unsure exactly how to get the script thingys (.py) stuff working. For example the python layer fx and ofnuts path tools do I put them in my gimp plugin folder in my username area or through the C directory? I put them in both but they aren't showing up in GIMP that I can see...

Do you have the Python Fu menu item showing up under/above Script-Fu In the filters menu? Also either area will work. I keep mine in the C:/Users/YOURNAME/Application Data/.gimp(version number)/Plugins

After placing them there restart gimp.
Try restarting your computer as well.
Let the topic know.

Don't put them in both? You should put them in your user directory as ZWard mentioned above. remove the other ones or they won't work.
After you do that, go to filters > render > clouds > fog and you have that, then there is a good chance you have all the ones you added.

In case of registration/conflict the first one wins. Not a big problem unless you try to update the second one and wonder why the update doesn't seem effective.

They are gonna show up all over the place depending on who wrote the filter and where they placed it. Tell us which ones you installed and we'll try to help you track them down.

Do you have the names of the ones you are looking for? In Gimp, go to Help at the top right, click plug-in browser, type in the name or part of the name in where it says search in the dialog box. If you are looking for fog, type that in and hi-light it when it comes up. look across in the right pane and it will give you the details and where to find it. It will also tell you who the author is.

spread pixels over path by ofnuts is under filters > noise

Most of my path-related scripts appear at the bottom of the right-click menu in the Path list, under "Decorate" or "Tools".

There is one that shows under Select>golden Spiral :)
As you need a selection to run it.
