Mon May 28, 2018 3:50 am

GIMP Version: 2.10 std
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: New User

List any relevant plug-ins or scripts:

List any ERROR messages you received:
NA

Thought I found the folder but when it came to put stuff in it I couldn't find a plugins folder for py files etc. :(
Just d/l some stuff for the 2.10 so I need to know the Windows address. Hopefully someone can help

EDIT: I just found my 2.8 folder. (Uninstalled the 2.8 version of gimp) Do I continue to use it?

Remembered where to find the address

No. I told it many times in other threads because people think 2.10 takes over the 2.8.
Gimp 2.10 personal folder (Windows) is in C:/Users/yourname/AppData/Roaming/Gimp/2.10

You need to make hidden folders visible, if you want to add scripts and plugins, because AppData folder is hidden.
From Windows Explorer menu Organize, folder & search options, view tab, "show hidden files, folders and drives" click OK.

You can, and I suggest you to keep the .gimp-2.8 for backup purposes.
The bad thing in my opinion is that when you install 2.10, it will copy all the scripts and plugins from the old user folder.
I don't really get the point of that because some of them will not work.
That's why people got confused. I renamed my .gimp-2.8 to .fimp-2.8 before installing 2.10.

Is that a Partha Gimp 2.10.0? - not the portable version.

Gimp 2.10 creates a Gimp profile C:\Users\your-name\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\.. and Appdata is a hidden folder

Find the Windows control panel and in File explorer settings enable 'hidden folders'

Then you can easily see the Appdata folder and follow it through to the Gimp 2.10 user profile.

Do not delete your old Gimp profile. Back it up and keep it safe. You might need it later.
Rename to something like C:\Users\your-name\.ex-gimp-2.8

I found it rich :) & nidhogg. I remembered you told me earlier this year rich to have a look in preferences for the path.
It is a partha version - not a portable

I have previously copied all my stuff from folder to folder and ended up with a lot of double, triple quantities of scripts, plugins, programs, including pictures and music. This year I deleted as I copied over. so I was left with nothing when I had to rewrite my system. Although I did forget about the CD's I have with some stuff on it but that is probably not compatible now.
The 2.8 folders are all empty now as well.
