Gimppressionist brushes.

Thu Sep 05, 2019 5:58 am

GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: 10 home 64 bit
GIMP Experience: New User

I think this has been discussed here before. I want to pose a question before my internet goes off again.
How can one make brushes for gimppressionist and where do they go. Had heaps before now I only have the ones that come with a fresh gimp. I don't want presets - cant get them to work how I want.
Thanks in advance

@sallyanne- short on bandwidth? so no video ;)

Make / add a gimpressionist brush? - got you mixed up with pat625 - don't know why.

(1) Check in your Gimp profile gimpressionist folder that a Brushes folder actually exists. If not make one.

(2) In Gimp create the brush, grayscale, white-on-black seems favourite.

(3) Open a new canvas so that your brush is not active
(4) Open gimpressionist. (5) select your brush from the drop-down select menu (6) Save-As

(7) Make sure the Brushes folder is found. (8) Give the brush a name ...and Save

(9) Your brush shows in the brushes list, set up sizes etc and OK.

There is a collection of brushes/presets on this page https://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=7818

Thanks for your reply rich. Thought I had replied same day. I was doing it on my phone so maybe I didn't properly.

I have plenty of bandwidth 'now' and will look at your video if you have one maybe tomorrow afternoon. Might also download those gimppressionist brushes too.
My internet was off for a week and I used up all the data on my phone, which I never do and it doesn't get topped up until next month. Thanks for the steps with pictures too. :)
