Hi
I have been searching on google and in this forum for an answer, but have found none. I suspect that it is me that don't know what qustion to ask, so i'll do my best to explain what i am trying to achieve.
If you open me .xcf file. I have created 1 path with 2 closed paths or selections in it (Path nr. 1 in xcf file). I would like to open them up, and make them into one path like nr. 2 path in .xcf file. If i had not closed them (Path nr. 1 in xcf file) i could just have edited them and joined the ends and made them into one, but now that they are closed i can't open them up.
Remove points by (shift + ctrl), sure
Move them and edit them, sure
Hope i make just a little bit of sense.

Delete the vertical segments with CTRL + Shift click.

Next open one of the nodes with Shift click, if you hover over the adjacent node, while pressing down CTRL, you can join both nodes with a new segment.

I have also been there. I agree, Gimp's paths are not very user friendly. So I made this list:
