DoG edge detect non-GEGL (when called in python scripts)

on 2.10.14 (samj) does not function
replaced it with 2.8
After many trials, because I always was getting an empty layer when applying DoG (in a python script) I decided to copy the version available in 2.8 Gimp; it started working again.
Info only for those who write scripts (the interactive call works).
