I have a logo. It is mostly used for small things. But for a sign it needs to be a high resolution jpeg or a pdf. Apparently the 1240x874 pixel jpg is not good enough. I had a look and there are alot of jaggies in the letters also it is only 150x150 ppi
Now my question is, can it be made a better resolution or will it need to be done again (As I think it will) If so. What is the best way?

Your best bet is to make an SVG out of it. Trace it out in paths and export the paths as an .svg file. On import of the svg, you can make it any size you want. Then fill in the colors.

You can also create it in InkScape.

If it is simple, and you prefer Gimp because you are not familiar with Inkscape, you could recreate it with path tool. Create closed shapes, then upscale the image, and use those paths (path to selection) for the color fills. Export to jpg.

The best way by far in this kind of situation, is to identify the font, type the logo text and create the shapes with path tool.
Something I've done lot in past with bad source files when the customer had only a paper version of their logos.

Tracing results depend on many things.
If you trace low-resolution multi-colored image, you will end up with a mess of paths, useless for engraving.
If they use some print method it probably doesn't matter.

You could also try waifu2x-caffe. It is a standalone program that uses neural networks to resize and/or denoise artwork. It does an amazing job on both artwork and photos. I downloaded the GUI version from:

Good luck!
