Gimp 2.10; Text on toolbars, headers Illegible

Mon Feb 10, 2020 5:09 am

GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Linux
OS Version: Mint 18
GIMP Experience: Basic Level

Hi,
When I open Gimp 2.10, all the text is unreadable. Close up, it appears to consist of small boxes with tiny numbers in each corner. It is totally unusable- and since I've begun using 2.10, when I try to open Gimp 2.8, my processor temps jump to dangerous levels, and the program fails to open, So now, I've got places to go, but no way to get there! I am very grateful for any help anyone can offer.
Thanks!

I would check in,
Edit > Preferences > Interface > Language.
To be sure the correct language is selected within the dialog.

Thanks for your reply, Wallace, but I'm afraid it didn't help. I've tried uninslall/reinstall, purge/reinstall, even restoring my system to a point 2 weeks ago using Aptik, nothing helps. I'm afraid I'm up a tree w/2.10, but I've managed to get 2.8 running again.I'm not sure where the problem lies, but it IS strange
Thanks Again.

Try running an AppImage instead. It's what I run these days. Here is a direct link to Gimp 2.10.12 AppImage with plugins for 64-bit Linux: https://github.com/aferrero2707/gimp-ap ... 4.AppImage

Thanks Racer-X!
A perfect solution! everything works fine, now! I don't know what was wrong with my installations, but I suppose- since this works. it's all better now. Thanks Again!
