Gimp dies during crop, IO error LibGimpBase script-fu gimp_wire_read

Sun Jul 26, 2020 4:58 pm

GIMP Version: 2.10.6-294
Operating System: Linux
OS Version: penguin 5.4.48 (debian)
GIMP Experience: Experienced User

List any ERROR messages you received:
gimp: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.
(script-fu:6228): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: 07:17:29.286: script-fu: gimp_wire_read(): error

New installation on fresh system.
At first everthing seems fine, but if I select a crop area and click outside that area gimp dies.
After restarting gimp it dies as soon as as I attempt to select a crop area.

Have tried deleting .config/GIMP without effect
Have removed & purged & reinstaaled Gimp with effect that it returns to original condition of dying if I click outside the selected crop area.

This looks like the bug report here.

I would be changing the graphics driver. Are you using an Nvidia graphics?
On Ubuntu it can be done from Software and Updates > Additional Drivers.

Not familiar with Debian.

Bug Report is expired. Doesn't look like it is resolved either.
