3rd Toolbox disappeared after download

Hi,

I just downloaded and installed GIMP 2.8.2

Once opened the 3rd "toolbox" on the right side disappeared so I closed GIMP and re-opened but that toolbox is still missing.

Is there some way to restore that toolbox or what that tools area is called?

I chose Single Window Mode and I see a little bit on the right but how do I make that whole toolbox ont he right viewable?

eagertolearn, I know it's frustrating at first steps to learn this nice program.
Be patient, and read a lot about Gimp.

Hi Issabella,

I have to work 99% of the time offline. How can I download the PDF of this User Guide?

I've learned Audacity, Libre programs and several other open source programs but GIMP is the least intuitive.

Beginners really need step-by-steps so when users post just the theory or the technique name (e.g Layers)
that's not enough. I tried to register for a GIMP class but they no longer teach the class.

I reckon if your so 'eager' to learn you would do what I'm sure most of us here have done.
The Gimp program is NOT as hard as some people make out to learn but it does take time. If I can learn something, anyone can. There are things about it I am still learning.
Anyway I didn't go to a class or anything like that to learn what I know and I am sure most can say the same. Just practice/play with your program and visit forums like this regularly to learn different things. You will learn - Not over night but you will. Those who are particularly skilled at the program are either long term users or quick learners/pick up things quickly.
Anyway play and have fun.
