GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: 10
GIMP Experience: Basic Level
I'm trying to decipher in GIMP 2.8.2 the step-by-steps exactly in changing the attached jpg's background form whiteto black and the typed text in that jpg from black to white.
I need more than just how it's done in theory or what the techniques are called by GIMP developers - I need all the steps in order they need to be taken to accomplis this task.
Perhaps, steps with a graphic image of what I should be seeing along with the text steps would be helpful.
Step 1 - click Tools (tab) > Selection Tools > By Color ..etc.
Step 2 - click Bucket Fill icon > place dot in circle next to BG
Step 3 - ???
I'd really appreciate the help of someone who's taught a class of beginners.
Thank you.

In relationship to the image you posted? I’m beginning to think you’re using the wrong program for the task at hand. If no one responds to this before I get back to my home office, I’ll reply to your request.
In the meantime, you might want to look at various publishing software, like Scribus.

Clear explanation, Wallace
The only thing you forgot to mention is that in the tool box of the rectangular select tool
you have to select "add to the current selection".

Yes you're correct Ella Louise.
I only realized this after posting the video.
However the video in question had some issues and I needs to replaced,
but this will not be corrected within the video.
Sorry about this. ![Embarrassed ](./images/smilies/icon_redface.gif)

No need to say sorry, Wallace.
But since eagertolearn doesn't even know the basics of Gimp, I mentioned it.
