NOOB seeks help

Wed Dec 30, 2020 8:32 pm

GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: New User

Hi all,

Gimp seems like a cool suite with lots of options, and I might use it for future editing of images for web development, but I'm confused atm...I'm trying to put together a project for some friends where I superimpose their heads on a bunch of Nerds candies.

Is there anyone who can write out how to do this step by step?

When I open the Nerds candy box image and then drop a cropped image (my friend's circular heads) on top of it, the second image (friend's head) doesn't seem to be changeable. That is I don't see any way to rotate or resize their heads. I can move them with the move tool but I also need to spin and shrink them a bit to "fit" them on the little armless Nerds bodies.

Endless thanks to anyone who can guide me through this...

Can you post the pictures? Someone here will show you how by doing it for you and posting an xcf file.
By the way if 2.8.14 seems cook you will notice a lot more tools in the latest version (2.10.22) that will help you with what you want to do
You can get it from here https://www.gimp.org/

Make sure you paste the head as new layer. I think you had this right if you were able to move the head around over the candy box.

Use Rotate, Scale, and Move tools. These are different in 2.8 but work same way than in the 2.10.
