Redocking tool options

Wed Apr 07, 2021 7:07 am

GIMP Version: 2.10
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: Intermediate Level

I was working on an image and accidentally undocked my tool options from the bar on the side. Now they're in a tiny floating box and will not go back. I googled how to do it and they just kept coming back with hovering over it until the glowing line appears. Well no glowing lines appear, and I'm thinking that's a different version of GIMP. I'm using 2.10 (and hating it, 2.8 was much better), and having torn my hair out I'm completely stuck on how to do what should be a simple task.

Please, someone tell me how do I get the tool options dialog back to where it was under the tools? I closed the window and reopened it, and it opened up docked on the top right, on the other side of my toolbox! I want it under my toolbox, like it is in the default configuration. Please help!

A couple of ways that do not involve drag-n-drop

Edit -> Preferences -> Window Management -> Reset Saved Window Positions to Default Values as: https://i.imgur.com/aGM8ooc.jpg

Use the little left pointing arrow top of the dock: Select add tab from the drop down menu as: https://i.imgur.com/oF4ucJS.jpg

Also click on 'lock tab to dock' if you don't want this to happen again.

Thank you! :tyspin We're back in business. My tool options are now safely back where they belong.
