Default to inches instead of pixels

Sun May 16, 2021 12:45 am

GIMP Version: 2.10
Operating System: Mac OS
GIMP Experience: New User

Is there a way to make GIMP open with a default to inches instead of pixels? I'm processing photos for printing not for the web.

In addition, the OP may want to have a look at this.

Open a photograph, typically a jpeg, for editing and it will open with the rulers set to pixels. It does not matter what properties the default image has or the jpeg image print properties. Units will be pixels. Easy enough to change to inches from the Gimp toolbar but it is a source of annoyance. https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/3362

The only way I know is Open-as-Layers over a canvas with inches set as units and that property is inherited. Is that worth the hassle ? A bigger PITA than just changing the units.
