To install, run command:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1/gimp
sudo apt update
sudo apt install gimp
To uninstall, run commands:
sudo apt install ppa-purge
sudo ppa-purge ppa:ubuntuhandbook1/gimp

Linux Distro need update for security, also in version, why use ubuntu 18.04 or 20.04 after April 21?
When Gimp 3 are default on distro (22.10?) need working AppImage for update (step by step) old scripts.

At the moment my preferred Gimp 2.10.8 appimage by Aferrero2707 works in ubuntu 22.04.
For use gimp 2.8 i use windows (or Slitaz in netbook) any time, reboot, reboot, reboot.
Vala and JavaScript for script in Gimp they are my curiosity
