Guides [Solved]

Thu Jun 09, 2022 4:29 am

GIMP Version: 2.10.30
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: 10
GIMP Experience: New User

I did have 'add guides' under my image menu. Looks like it has been Replaced with 'Slice using guides'
When I click on it. It does nothing - gives me no options for settings etc. and nothing in tool option. Why has the Add guides gone? Did I do something to make it disappear?

I don't believe I ever had "add guides" in my Image Menu, this is what I have.

This problem got reported by someone else: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/5615

Let's first try checking if any of your script-fu is working...

Do you have a Filters>>Script-Fu menu entry?:

Much the same as Kevin

You will need to do some investigation ;)

Image -> Slice using Guides (was Image -> Transform -> Guillotine in Gimp 2.8) is a plugin (guillotine.exe)

The standard entries in Image -> Guides are all script-fu If none register then no menu entry.

You need to check is script-fu is working ? Is there a Filters -> Script-Fu entry ? Is the Filters -> Script-Fu -> Refresh Scripts there and does it do anything.

A long-shot, do you have/had the script-fu scrolling replacement installed ? Is it still there ?

I suspect (what Paynekj wrote about):
base script-fu omitted (bug in Preferences - probably taken from older version?).

Please do not mention the scrollbar version of script-fu as the possible cause of the error (I can probably always prove on Windows that the reason is different - with one exception: the wrong version is installed).

Hm that's strange , yes scripts has gone. I don't usually shut gimp down. So I'll try to shut it down and open it again and see what happens
