How to Create New Dynamic Setting and edit

Thu Apr 11, 2024 7:21 pm

GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: 11
GIMP Experience: Intermediate Level

First time using Dynamic painting in gimp but I can't get it to work.

I cannot edit or change any of the presets in the dynamic painting. I believe I have Lmb clicked and Rmb clicked on everything around the dynamics tab and do not get an option to create a new Dynamics tab option. I can't edit the curves or choose any of the little unchecked squares that say things like Velocity, Direction, Tilt, Random, or Fade. I watched a tutorial and it seemed like the guy was just clicking boxes with no problem. However, I am not getting anything when I click them. I have reinstalled the latest version and still get the same results.

What am I missing? How do I edit dynamics?

I'm Trying to make a flow map using Directional painting with a mouse. Where it will paint red when painting in the right direction and Green when painting in the up direction.

You are editing one of the "factory" dynamics, so it is read-only. You have to make a copy of it and edit the copy. In the Dynamics dialog (Windows > Dockable dialogs > Paint Dynamics), click the "Duplicate this dynamics" button at the bottom, or right-click the Dynamics and pick "Duplicate".
