GIMP ui font changed by itself, unable to revert the change

Fri Jun 07, 2024 2:01 pm

GIMP Version: 2.10.38
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: 10
GIMP Experience: Experienced User

Hello, few days ago the GIMP ui font changed without asking or updating anything to this new font
Image
i tried updating as well as reinstalling but nothing helped.
i tried to edit the them i am using (default dark) but even after restarting GIMP it does not change anything.
the only way i can get the font i used to have back is to use the system theme, somehow it is unaffected.
Image
i belive this is nothing more than the default windows font.

it is really frustrating that this happened without reason and all the fixes produces no effect
i also don't want to use the default white system theme.

i'd love your help to fix this, or if anyone could provide me a working dark theme with the default windows font.

thanks

Might be a corrupted configuration, Have you tried renaming your config directory and start gimp?

What do you mean by config? i did reset all my user settings if that's what you mean as well as uninstalling and reinstalling, the themes were wiped and clean files were added during the process, i made sure to check

I also checked the fonts folder as well as the theme ones and i did not see any conflict

What AdmFubar was saying,is that your gimp user file needs renaming. Then a new one will be created when you restart gimp.
By just uninstalling and reinstalling doesn’t change your user folder

Can i get more details about that 'user file'? where it is located? is it the settings located in AppData? because i did delete them to let the app generate fresh ones without success.
Is it the list of directories in the settings? i did reset them all and nothing changed too.

I don’t have my program with me so can’t tell you exactly where it is right now. There are two gimp folders. One is the native gimp with nothing added to it. Your user folder is the one you put scripts, plugins, gradients you made, patterns etc in. That is the one you need to rename. If you want any of the extras still you will need to copy them over, after the new folder is made. Preferably one at a time to see where your problem is.
