G'MIC and selections (SOLVED)

Fri May 10, 2013 12:25 pm

GIMP Version: 2.8.4
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: all os systems with G'MIC installed
GIMP Experience: Advanced Level

List any relevant plug-ins or scripts:
G'MIC

List any ERROR messages you received:
Pre selections not being respected in G'MIC filters

Just wondering if anyone else has this problem on any os they have.
Open an image and create a selection.Go to select>invert.
Run G'MIC and pick Patterns>Sponge as the filter and click OK.

Does the selection have the sponge effect and not the non selected area?
Because it should.
This seems to work in Fedora but not Windows, or Debian.

I am just interested to know if other os platforms have this issue.

I have 1.5.5.1 64-bit version of G'MIC and it works proper for me Rod. Might be the 32-bit compile version. As a side note, I'm still waiting for 1.5.5.2 64-bit Windows G'MIC for GIMP to be compiled (as many others are too). :)

the selection was a circle with the rose inside, the inverted selection therefore what's around the circle;
obviously it does not make changes on the flat violet colour but on the branches yes

That seems to be the case with all GMIC filters and it is actually tied to the output mode, when set to 'in place(defaut)', it respects the selection,

but when set to 'new layers', it works on the entire layer

Ahh okay so that is the problem then. :)
Thanks folks.

My question to David would be, does the gmic plugin automaticaly set output to to 'in place(default)' or does it use the output already in place as there is no setting in the pdb for output but there is one for input

(plug-in-gmic run-mode image drawable input command)

Yeah you would think the Procedure Data base would have at least 2 parameters, active and new for output.
