I can get the paint tools to show in the current version. Before i updated my screen looked like yours where the options were there. Now i cant get most of the tools to show. Ive gone into prefrences and every menu i can find trying to get them to populate, ive followed a few diffrent guides trying to get the tool menu to open. Thats kinda my whole problem in a nut shell

wouldnt you know as soon as i posted my last reply i finally got the tool options to work. Thanks for the tip about duplicating the tool, after reinstalling and trying that a few times it finally worked, hope that will help with my other tools as well. its always the similist things to solve the most frustrating issues.

Any solution until today? I'm facing the same problem with gimp-2.10.30 running on Windows 10. I never had this problem when I used gimp-2.10.12 for many years. I just upgraded last week.

Most of the problem is the way you have set up the Gimp interface.

The place to change the brush size .. is in the tool options NOT the brush editor

Why is the brush editor settings greyed out? It is a default brush in a non-editable folder. Duplicate it and you can then edit it. (but why would you want to do that?)

If you don't see the Option Tool go to `Windows >> Dockable Dialogs >> Tool Options`
