GIMP Experience: Intermediate Level

I should know this and feel like a dope for asking it.
When I make my brush and try to edit it all of the sliders are greyed out. What am I forgetting to do?
Second question: Every time I post something in this section it has the me the section asking what version of gimp, windows etc and what my experience level is. That's always wrong and I have to edit it, which is a nuisance. how can I set that once and for all?

Any brush you make not using the brush editor is not editable in the brush editor. The brushes supplied by gimp are also not editable.

You can open a brush as an image and edit that and then re-save it as a brush.

According to the manual, brushes created using the brush editor are called parametric brushes and they can be edited. I may have one or two parametric brushes I made with the editor but I have many more that are ones I made as images and saved as brushes.

I stumbled upon this problem before and I remember having some difficulties to get this working as I think it should, anyway, I believe everything is explained within the .vbr paragraph of the http://docs.gimp.org/en/gimp-using-brushes.html

As for the forum features I think those fields you keep fulfilling aren't bound to your profile, so unless a javascript enjoyer (or something like this, php maybe, I couldn't tell ^^') take care of this...
