Hi I seem to be missing the plug-ins folder from gimp. I've just tried reinstalling but it's the same. Also, I installed version 2.6 but it still says 2.0 in the Gimp folder. I'm confused, can anyone help please? |

Upright-girl hi, It will say 2.0 in the Gimp folder. I also have the 2.6 version of Gimp. If you want to know where your plug-in folder(s) are, just select: Edit | Preferences from a Gimp Image Window. The Preferences Dialog Window will open. On the left side, you will see various label headings, which you can click on and then make various adjustments. Towards the bottom of that list you will see one marked Folders. Just expand that section and find the one that is named Plug-Ins and click on it. On the right, you will see a section showing you the path to your plug-in folders. Generally there is a local one. It usually involves some path including your user name. Then there is the global one. For example, my global path for my plug-in folder is /usr/local/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins (I use the GNU/Linux OS, your path will look different if you are using Microsoft Windows). Hope this helps you some. ![]() |

Plug-in folder locations for Windows XP C:\Program Files\gimp-2.0\lib\gimp\2.0\Plug-ins C:\documents and settings\userName\.gimp-2.6 or .gimp-2.0\Plug-ins Normally you should make a habit of installing all new resources for Gimp in the C:\documents and settings\userName\.gimp-2.6 or .gimp-2.0\ resource folders. This way when you re-install a new version or update these folders will remain there and all your gtkrc settings. Like your theme, preferences, and things like that. |

Hi to everybody, new here, new to Gimp, my first post. I have spent a whole day going mad trying to find the plugin folder so that I can load Da big gimp plugin which I have just purchased. Every post says that it is edit/preferences/folders/plugins. but there is no folder called plugins under the folder heading. all there is are two folders called temporary 2.10 and swap 2.10, both are empty. I would appreciate any help on this. My OS is windows 10. thanks. gerrya |

My personal opinion for one who is "new to Gimp", is to install a portable (standalone) Gimp package, like Samj's https://samjcreations.blogspot.com/2021 ... 21024.html or Partha's https://www.partha.com/. Things get easier: everything in one place. |
