Make sure your image settings is set to color and not black/white or Indexed before you import your image into the layer you are working with.

GIMP Version: 2.8.14 Operating System: Windows OS Version: Windows 10 GIMP Experience: New User I am new to using GIMP and have been following some tutorials on YouTube, but I have run in to an issue and do not know what is causing this. Every time that I try to import a .png file it is coming up black and white and does not have the colors that I created it as in Inkscape. Does anyone know how what I am doing wrong? Also I don't know how to post a screen shot can someone help me with that? |

Hello. I'm having the same issue with my color images importing as black and white images when I "import as layer" and I do not know how to change the image settings to color. Can you please explain the steps? Thank you! |

make sure your image mode is select to RGB - it should be by default but sounds like you may have changed it.
