Here are the speech bubbles in PNG format,
with a transparent background.

I first did a Alpha to Color, on the image.
To removed all the white pixels form it.
I then used the magic wand to select the outer portion,
where the white background was.
Inverted the selection.
Added a new later below it.
Filled the inverted selection with white,
to replace the white pixels that were remover for the colored areas.
The result of this,
is in the attached PNG file above.

Welcome to Gimp Chat.
To remove background color right-click the layer in the layers box and 'add alpha channel'. Then 'Select' > 'By Color'. Next left-click the color you want to remove and 'Edit' > 'Clear'. Then 'Select' > 'None'.

Usual technique:

- Color select the white, with a threshold which is as small as possible but still gets most of the "white" pixels along edgse (the picture being a jpeg, the edges are a bit damaged by compression artefacts, on a clean PNG, a threshold of 0 would be enough). On this picture, a threshold of 8 seems to do it.
- Select>Grow by 2 pixels, so that selection bleeds over the edges
- Color>Color to alpha and remove the white.
