Post subject:  [solved] problem with creating a template

GIMP Version: 2.10.12sam
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: New User

:wvy
With the Gimp samj 2.10.12, I would like that, when I click File / New image, it opens a white image of dimensions X on Y, so I created a model from a white open image. But when I click to choose this model, it always opens with the background color ...
With the version Gimp samj 2.10.11, I do not have this problem.

The templates are held in your Gimp user profile in a file templaterc

You have separate user profiles for your samj portable and regular Gimp installation and they are different.

Using File -> New Any template can be changed if you expand Advanced Options and in Fill with choose an option.

You can move the templaterc file from one profile to the other for compatibility.

Thanks rich2005 for the indication of the location of the models.
But when I create this model wanted, I always go in the advanced options and I choose the white and I repeated several times in vain ... I do this with each new version.

As the templatrc of 2.10.11 works, I will put it in 2.10.12.

I replaced the templatrc of 2.10.12 by that of 2.10.11 and the new image does not open in white!
And I come again to verify that my brain is not in an accelerated degenerative phase: the model opens in white with 2.10.11

I specify that, before creating my model, I deleted the existing one by the menu Windows / Dockable windows / models.
I think Gimp should keep the name of the model in memory because every time I took the same name for the model (although having indicated the blank), I had the problem.

I started again for the nth time but choosing another name and there, it is correct. :)

Bit more time today. Fridays always busy for me + I meet friends in the afternoon for a couple of beers ;)

Is Windows / Dockable windows / models. the Templates dialogue ?

You probably know most of this already, however, Gimp templates:

1. If you make a canvas then use File -> Create Template, that template will use the background colour (BG) as the fill. It does not matter if you originally used something else, BG is used. That can be changed on a per-image basis in the advanced options as the earlier screenshot.

Easiest way, if you want white make sure the BG is white.

2. It can be set permanently if you edit the Template: Windows -> Dockable Dialogues -> Templates. Select Edit bottom of the dock and change fill to White.

Little video demo of above: https://youtu.be/ZniY6iJf9B0 duration 3 minutes
