GIMP Version: 2.8.14 Operating System: Linux OS Version: Pop! OS 19.04 GIMP Experience: Intermediate Level List any relevant plug-ins or scripts: N/A List any ERROR messages you received: N/A Hi all, As you will see in my attached .xcf file, I have 2 layers. The bottom layer has a landscape photo, while the top layer has an indoors photo with windows. I selected the windows and proceeded to delete them, thinking that the layer below would show through. But it won't! What gives?!! What am I missing? Thanks guys DPC Attachment:

I simply added alpha channel to the top layer and then cut to remove the windows area. |

I don't recall needing to manually add an Alpha channel prior to just making a see-through hole. I was under the impression that I used to just overlap the layers, and make a hole on the top one, and that was it. Did something change over the past year or so? Maybe I'm just loosing it. |

Nothing's changed. You probably either had your gimp to automatically add an alpha channel or used pictures with alpha channels before |
