GIMP Version: 2.10 Operating System: Windows GIMP Experience: New User List any relevant plug-ins or scripts: none List any ERROR messages you received: none I try to use the paintbrush and nothing happens. Every other tool works perfectly the only problem is the paintbrush tool. It does absolutely nothing when I click. I don't get any error message and at the bottom of the screen it tells me I can "click to paint" but I click and nothing happens. I use the eraser and I can erase just fine. The image mode is RGB the paint mode is normal no matter what brush I use nothing happens. I reinstalled the program and absolutely nothing. I only have one layer and I can erase on it just fine. I have the whole image selected. But still nothing happens? It worked just fine yesterday but at some point it stopped for no reason. Can someone help me please? I can't use gimp anymore. |

And if more than one layers are involved, make sure the layer is selected and not obstructed by another layer on top. |

Make sure the layer is not locked and - a common mistake - that there are no selections active. |

If the other paint tools (bucket-fill, gradient...) work, then for the paintbrush check the mode (should be "normal"), the opacity (should be 100%), the Dynamics (should be "Dynamics off") and the force (shouldn't be "0"). Also check that you are not using the "Clipboard" brush. Otherwise post a screenshot of the tool options |

Hey rich2005, that is what I told him in the post#2, the brush opacity is in the 0 position. But I guess he didn't read it. |

Yes, I should have done a better job of reading your post, however, it appears you need to set your paintbrush "normal" layer mode to something higher than 0. |
