GIMP Version: 2.10.14 Operating System: Mac OS OS Version: 11.0.1 GIMP Experience: Basic Level List any relevant plug-ins or scripts: None List any ERROR messages you received: None I'm trying to use the paint brush in GIMP and it is very laggy. It makes work very slow and it makes precise work nearly impossible. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Thanks in advance! |

Two possibilities i can think of: Scenario 1: user error - make sure the Smooth Stroke option is unchecked in the Tool Options. Scenario 2: your brush is very big. This can be the case when you use Photoshopbrushes, which tend to have large stamps. The only solution to this case is resizing the actual brushstamp and re-exporting as a .gbr. |

I noticed too that if you make the brush bigger than the default size, you can also get extreme lag. ![]() |

If you are using a graphics tablet then Gimp is horribly laggy. I paint with a mouse at the moment so it doesn't affect me but if I was using a tablet I would use Krita rather than Gimp. You could try turning off colour management in preferences. |
