GIMP Version: 2.10.24
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: 10
GIMP Experience: Basic Level

I have a still background image (1920x1080) that I would like to add 2 gif animations at different speeds (both are 1920x1080). How do I proceed?

Gif # 1: 4 Frames (600ms each)

Gif # 2: 4 Frames (200ms each)

Please keep in mind I am great at following instructions but I am terrible in math and tend to get lost and confused very easily when it comes to numbers. If someone can please explain to me in layman's terms it would be appreciated.

Problem solved. Thanks anyway, but I figured it out. Look at me doing basic math on my own! lol

Hi -NiHiLiSTiK. Great nick and welcome to here.

You don't have to do any math to do this. Put your background below the other movement frames and Filters > Animation > Combine background. The frames must have an 'eye' symbol in the frames box. Thats it.

I do not think it is as easy as that ;)

4 layers @ 600 = 2400
4 layers @ 200 = 800

Lowest common timing factor is 200 so you need 2400 / 200 = 12 layers @ 200

That is 3 cycles of the 200 animation merged with 1 cycle of the 600 animation. That is 12 layers of the 600 animation @ 200 (layer 1 x3 + layer2 x3 + layer3 x 3 + layer4 x3)

Then the background layer added to the 12 layers.

I can recommend "Rename Layers.py" I use it to set any speed I want on a layer series.

I'm pretty sure this is the version I'm using:

Mind Blown! See .... math :/

But thanks for the replies ... Now what if I want to add 5 gifs total? (lol I'm joking, I wouldn't even want to try) :D

Nice explanation rich2005 :coolthup

I don't blame you. I think I got up to about 11 with the one linked to below and it was a headache. The lesson I learnt is not to do it again :hehe

I misunderstood the question - I didn't realize you wanted to merge gifs.
Of course a gif can only have one speed so as rich detailed you need to add frames.

When you get permission from GC why not post the gif here? I think the physical size (1920x1080) may make the gif too large but scaling is easy.

Nice animation.

Did this one time when tedium took over and ran out of worthwhile things to do.

I don't think I can post yet but honestly it's nothing special. I own an arcade machine that I customized the bottom front cabinet with a vertical screen. I wanted to make a simple gif wallpaper where the coin slots blink and the key on the change door bumps around as if someone is playing with the machine. (I have a video but can't post links neither it turns out lol) :gaah

That sounds interesting, you should be able to post images and links once you've made five posts.
