I've had a bit of a bad week when it comes to computers. My regular desktop isn't working at all anymore. I'm on a crappy laptop now and I hoped to upgrade the GIMP 2.6 that was installed to the new 2.8. So I did. And I have no brushes at all now. I checked the folder paths in preferences and even went to the folders themselves to look. It installed seemingly entirely without them.

My question is, where can I grab the set of standard brushes that is supposed to be included with GIMP, so I can at least try to get something done while I wait for my replacement comp.

I wonder how that happened

Anyway, one way would be to download the portable version of gimp

these are from my XPsp3 Gimp 2.8.2 - 1.5 MB

and they go in C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\share\gimp\2.0\brushes

note all the brushes in 2.8 are in sub-folders

Okay, that is weird. That path was not in the preferences list of paths for brushes. So out of curiosity I added it and sure enough, there they were. I wonder why it didn't install it with the path already there.

Thanks a ton for the share though and the path. I have brushes to play with now.
