Your gimp file contains Layer group. Layer groups are not supported by 2.6 gimp.

Unpack layer group in your home gimp using this Animstack script.
Download and copy it in your .gimp-2.8/scripts folder.

Reopen gimp and find it in Layers>Group>Unpack layer group.
Save your file as xcf and it will be good for your school gimp.

P.S. Animstack is the script for animation production but it contains a lot of useful utility scripts
that are indispensable, thanks to Timofei (aka Grue here)

Actually, I did it for you so you don't have to go through all the trouble with installing stuff you may never need.

Here is your 'unpacked' xcf

Maybe you should Install 2-6-12 portable on your PC as well as 2.8

Hi Graechan

I here about portable gimp but I don't know what that is. Is it a version that runs on its own without being installed in the program directory of the computer? I know blender has versions that run straight from an exe file.
