Hello everyone

I use Gimp 2.8.4 on Ubuntu 12.04 64bit, official Gimp Help says that layers groups can move between files dragging the group layer or with keyboard Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V

But it does not work, anyone know if it is a bug?

Thanks

For if someone helps, leave here the result of my research :)

This is a bug already reported: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=676522

It only happens in single window mode (Linux), in multi window mode works well

It seems that there will be no solution until 2.10

I am using Gimp-2.8.4 win32 bit on Vista (Parthas version), and i am able to drag, and use the arrow buttons to move layer group folders between layers.
Copy and paste does not work for me however.

DND of layers and layer groups will not be fixed until version 2.10.
Single-window mode doesn't operate correctly. There are about 10 other bugs associated with it.
But the devs do promise to fix it [gimp-users collective fingers crossed]

Workaround for linux:

Switch to multi window mode, DND layers group to other file, switch back to single window mode
Ready! :)

Using PCLinuxOS 32bit Gimp 2.8.10

By far the easiest way is as above - go out of single window mode.

If you want/need to stay in single window mode.

Detach the layers dialog
Go to the image you want as the origin.
In the Layer Dialog configuration untick Auto Follow Active Image (that is why you have to detach the dialog)

Image

Select the destination image
Click and drag from the layers dialog into the canvas.

Of course, now you have to go into the layers dialog and re-enable Auto Follow ...
