Still Having Trouble with Gimp on Mac.?
I have a new Macbook Pro.
I downloaded X11 and now XQuartz.

I have tried downloading Gimp from a lot of different sites.

Every time I still end up with the single box for Gimp as you see in the picture.
I can find a picture and ask the Macbook to open in Gimp and it will but I have not edit tools. Nothing other than the screen you see in the picture.

Please help me figure out how to get this to work on my computer.

I loved Gimp on my PC but since I moved from PC to Mac I have been lost in almost all my normal programs I worked on.

My best suggestion would be to trash all the different Gimps that you have downloaded, and start fresh. I use McGimp…you can download it from Partha's Place. It is the first one on the list. It is compiled with quite a few useful Python plug-ins already in it and also, GMic is included. IIRC, when it downloaded to my Macbook, it self-installed, but there are instructions for installation at Parth's place that you probably should read in case you would need them.

P.S. I never downloaded the X11 or quartz, as you will not need them for Partha's version, and I don't think the new MacBooks need them. I still use Mountain Lion, I don't want to upgrade to Mavericks because some people say it doesn't play nice with Gimp.

I'm on a mba and never downloaded X11 or quartz either. Try what 2-ton has suggested.
