Why is the MLBevelReflect plugin adding a background to my text images in a single layer now, when before it was transparent?

The only two reason I know as to why this should occur is, if your sphere environment map isn't on a transparent layer or the shape your mapping isn't on a transparent layer.

Are you using the stand alone MLBevelReflect Plugin?

if so, you'll need to color invert your text/image to white on a black background before using the plugin. That's just the way it works.

That step is not necessary with Bevel Reflect Logo script. :smiley2

That's right and the reason is that the plug-in actually uses the color of the pixel in the top left corner of Environment Map as the background color of the final image.

I'm using this...

This is the image I'm using for the Map that has an alpha channel...

When I run it, I get a text image that has a background.

I would suggest it is because you are using a square map not a spherical map, see tux's previous post, but that aside, I like the results and the colour works great as a background.

Thanks, but I had no control over what the background color came out to be. The results are nice though.
If I create a gradient for this image. I may be able to get the same results.

To use that image as the emap and have a transparent background, just make the pixel in the top left corner transparent. MLBR uses that pixel for the BG color of the final image.

Yep.

Did what you suggested and all went well. Got the transparent BG I was after.

Nice clean text Wallace, very clean and shiny. I have never used that filter, I didn't even know it was there.

Yes

There are 2 different dialogs...
This first one is the dialog that shows with,"File>Create>Logo(gimpchat.com)>Bevel Reflect Logo".
And the other with, "Filter>Alpha to Logo>Bevel Reflect Logo"...
