Only for test.
This invaluable plug works very well for Gimp 2.8 and Python 2.7, :jumpclap
For Gimp 2.6.12 and Python 2.6.1 - only entry in the menu without the possibility of launching (regardless of version autosave)

Hi MareroQ,
Thanks for the info. That's curious for GIMP-2.6.12!
If I remember correctly your OS is Windows. In that case, now that there are many GIMP-2.8 packagers I find the Windows' Python support not consistent, so probably important to specify which packager. For me, on the 'semi'-official Windows package.

Hi Zeo,
Be happy to help.
The name of the zip archive is 'autosave_a_3_0.zip' and it contains two items:
1) file 'autosave_a.py'
2) folder 'autosave_a'.

First install for your GIMP-2.8 to test it (should work OK) and second try it for your GIMP-Painter (not sure).
- stop GIMP if running
- move the old plug-in to a new location
- unzip the 'autosave_a_3_0.zip' archive in "...\.gimp-2.x\plug-ins" (user's plug-ins location)
- start GIMP and see if there is two new entries in the menu-image-bar under "<Image>/Extensions/Plugins-Python/File"
>"Auto save..."
>"NoUI auto save"
if yes the installation is finished :yes , if no: problems :gaah ...

Hope this answer about files.

Hi Zeo,
Sorry didn't realize that maybe your not familiar with the 'registry' I mentioned in post #10.
Since now it seems I can attach file to my post, here is that archive:

Thanks for the feedback.
It's clearer now that only part of Python is working as it should.

Perhaps it should be considered a problem of OS backup instead of an image one.
Windows XP has, I think, restoration point?

Some other members are more qualified than me for that aspect.

Hi Zeo,

Happy for you and felicitations are in order for your tenacity.

On the less happy side, since an hard drive is one of the less durable component, probably if a sector is bad an other one could follow soon!

Regards
