GIMP Experience: Beginner Level



Hiya...for some reason on a particular image I want to index to a few colours but however many I use it does not want to pick up white...any ideas please, thanks.

Sorry...I am not sure. Using the Gimp default. I have not had problems with other images.

I was not sure what you are trying to do (your workflow).
Are you using, Image | Mode | Indexed... and checking with Colormap?
...or are you trying to apply a limited palette?

All I am doing is Image/mode/index/convert
If I change the background colour to white it then works...confused.com lol

Pleased you found your solution.

You have to have some white in the image for it to register in the colormap.
Usually at the end and fades into the background so you think nothing is there. Tends to convert to not-pure-white #ffffff as well

Totally off-topic but using an indexed image was a way of concealing a message.

Edit the colors to hide the text, duplicate colours are not a problem.
[edit] excuse the error I have those the wrong way round.


Then to reverse the procedure look for duplicate colours and assign a colour to them.
