GIMP Version: 2.8.10
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: Beginner Level

Brand new to this site, and all things GIMP.

I've installed GIMP 2.8.14, and I installed Help file gimp-help-2-2.8.1-en-setup.exe. But then I saw an updated Help file, gimp-help-2.8.2.tar.bz2. I installed Bitser to open the .bz2 file and it decompresses everything, but I can't get the Help file to install. In the list of decompressed files there is an "Install" file, but it doesn't install when clicking it; it wants me to open another program.

Not sure what to do here.

Thanks,

Starkman

If you go here... http://www.gimp.org/downloads/ and click on the lauguge you want under GIMP User Manual. You will be downloading an installer for Gimp help files/user manual.

This is what it looks like when it's downloaded.

I ran the installer to show you what you should expect when you click on the installer file.

But I'm trying to install 2.8.2, not 2.8.1 (which, as an .exe, did install fine). The new Help file is shown on the first page of the Main site.

Thanks,

Starkman

I believe 'gimp-help-2.8.2.tar.bz2' is source code and needs to compile (build) before
installation.

Well, someone on another forum gave me the FTP link (found at the very bottom of Gimp-dot-org download site...a place even God was saying, "Sheesh! I never even saw that!").

It was the Windows .exe version of the file, so I think I'm good.

Very much thanks all, though,

Starkman

From the link Odin gave, just go to the Windows subdirectory under Help and then to 2.8/2.8.2/
