Using File>Create>Logos>Crystal I noted the default font ENGRAVER; I don't have it in my font files! Can some guru explain where I can find? Thank in advance

I've never used this menu item before now. I did notice that I don't presently have the font "Engraver" installed anywhere on my machine.

What I've found was that this logo creation dialog/menu item will use my default font "Sans" to create the text, if it is not changes within it's dialog.

I made this image below to compare the default "Sans" font to the logo that was created by this menu item.
Note that they are the same.

This image below shows what the actual "Engraver" font looks like.

Having installed the "Engraver" font onto my computer, this logo creation menu item now uses this font as it's default font.

Note: I've changed the name of this font file from "engravrl.ttf" to "Engraver.ttf" to resemble the name of the default font used by this menu item.

Thank you Wallace for the explanation and for the attached font
so, if a filter don't find the exact font will use the default font

I haven't noticed this with other filters, so I can't say for sure that this is the exact behaviour of every filter that utilizes fonts.

I would think that any available filter within Gimp would not display a font for use that wasn't installed, but this seems to be the contrary in this case.

I think if you check all the File > Create > Logos scripts, most of them have rather "different" sounding font names but turn out to be, as you found out, plain old Sans.

This is File > Create > Chrominium and the name of the font in it is Ethnocentric but it turns out to be Sans.

That's interesting.

This is an image of the Ethnocentric Font Family.

If anyone wants to get it here's the link to dafont.com.

I installed Ethnocentric font and the script picked up on it. The only way that would work every time is if there were a font that came in Gimp with that name, which it doesn't.

That happened to me too, but closed Gimp and installed the fonts that were being called for and everything was normal, I was able to changed fonts without errors.

I was trying fonts that are already in my font folder, I get the error and it doesn't work. If it has that option that you can change the font, I wonder why it throws that error and doesn't work. I even tried a different emap and that didn't work either.

Here's the CRILLEE font if you or anyone else wants it.

That's odd, I wish I had an answer. :puzzled
Maybe installing the fonts it's calling for will help?
