GIMP Version: 2.8.10
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: Beginner Level

Just started using Gimp a week ago, so this is a beginner question. Please help, this is driving me mad and I can't get past this issue.

When I select one layer and use the filter effects in Aplha to Logo, I can't return back to see the whole image again. I know the other layers are still there because I can select them but what I can see is limited to the layer that I filtered. Clicking on the eyes in the layer menu doesn't help.

Here's what I see and can't escape from.

Please help

Perform "Image->Fit Canvas To Layers".

(Note: the Alpha to Logo scripts are poorly implemented and do not follow the conventional behavior of GIMP's other filters.)

Follow up question.

The red colour is a separate layer. When I add a black background layer the red gets trimmed down to the size of that dotted square as a consequence. It's cutting off part of the glow. How can I increase this rectangle that it is trimming the image, so that it's not cutting off bits of the pic?
It doesn't happen when there's no background layer.

Go to Layer > layer to image size.
