GIMP Version: 2.8.10
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: Basic Level



I have been trying for a while to achieve this embossed effect. I know it should be fairly straight forward but my dots always come out looking flat on top when I want more of a curve to them.

maybe bevel and emboss using the pillow setting?

You mean something like this?

If so, just create two layers. You top layer is you template layer were you paint brush some slightly blurred dots. The base layer is a solid fill (chose white) and on the base layer, you run bumpmap and adjust the settings until you are happy. :)

I finally figured it out, thanks for all your help. I am going to post how I did it in the tutorial section, so anyone interested can use it.
