GNU Image Manipulation Program has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

I was using the color picker to change the color of the font I was using. I clicked with the color picker on the foreground color that's displayed in the tool dialog box.
Gimp then stopped working. This is the second time this has occurred, while doing the same thing.

Here's a screenshot.

It would be more useful to report this to bugzilla.gnome.org?

Have you tried a search for duplicates of, libpixman-1-0.dll?

No, I think I'll do that now. Thanks for the tip. Maybe that's what's causing this crash.
I'll be back with the search results as soon as I can. ;)

Stay tuned...

The other users who have had this problem all seem to be using multi-monitor set-ups on Windows.

I did look at a few of the other related bug reports, but I missed the one you linked to.
I do have a duel monitor setup.
However, the error described in the linked bug report you offered had nothing to do with changing text color, but it look as though the same dll is involved in this report as was my report.
Given this bug report, I disconnected my second monitor from the GPU and preformed a system reboot, but I'm still able to reproduce this error using a single monitor, with Gimp in single window mode and not in single window mode.

I also didn't find a duplicate libpixman-1-0.dll, as per Odin's suggestion.

I have a 2 monitor setup.
I've disconnected my second monitor and the error/crash can still be replicated on either monitor. With Gimp in single window mode and not in single window mode.
I prefer not use the single window mode and this is how I've always set things up. I don't think having Gimp in single window mode or not, has anything to do with the error.

I have a similar (if not the same) issue... Using single monitor setup (no choice, work computer setup), and Windows 7 x64.

I can use the color picker fine (at least I don't THINK it has crashed on me yet), but it seems to pretty much crash at random. Sometimes when I am pasting something (and other times I can paste fine), a few times when I was exporting (and again, other times I can export fine)... I have yet to pin down exactly what triggers it, since I can re-open the program and do exactly what I did before, but it's driving me batty!!

It also doesn't seem to be time-related, as far as I can tell. (E.g., crashing every 5 minutes - sometimes it works for half an hour, sometimes 2 minutes...)

Errors below (saving room with spoiler accordion.)

Note: The ... windows. common ... space was because the site wouldn't let me post it without a space between the period and 'common.' It thought I was posting websites.... 0.o

I can confirm, I have the same issue with GIMP 2.8.16.

I will add to the existing bug report, but for people who Google the issue and land on the forum, I too have 3 monitor setup, 1 graphic card (AMD Radeon R9 R270 2GB), using 2 DVI and 1 DisplayPort. Crash if I pick a color on any of the first 2 monitors (DVI), fine if I pick a color on the 3d monitor. If I have the image split across 2 monitors, by dragging the windows to span 2 monitors, it crash if I select a pixel that is not on the 3rd monitor, but fine if I select another pixel in the same image that is on 3rd monitor.

Edit: I checked, and above, I meant the first 2 monitors and 3rd monitor are as I see them, left to right. But actually, for the display driver (In Windows 7 x64), the monitor setup identity page will identify the monitors in the order (left to right) 3, 2, 1 (i.e. the DP monitor is seen as monitor 1).

Regards,
Eric

I can confirm, I have the same issue with GIMP 2.8.16.

That's interesting?
I did receive a reply to my bug report, stating that it is a known bug.
The bug you've described is slightly different, but dose still involve the Color Picker. Which seems to point to the usage of more the a single monitor and or a dedicated GPU.
My GPU has support for 3 monitors. I'm currently using 2 of the 3 connections, 1 HDMI Port and 1 DVI Port. The 3rd port is a VGA, which isn't in use.
I wonder if disabling the dedicated GPU and only using the on-board monitor port and GPU would produce this same bug?

I have the same issue and it is driving me crazy.
I do have a 2 screen set up as well.
It used to work fine for me on my previous laptop. Not anymore though :/
Could this really be the issue?
What can I do to fix it?
Does anyone have any tips?
Thanks!

Use only one monitor, or install the latest version of Gimp and see if the color picker works with more the one monitor.
