Greetings,

I just built a new computer with a 64 bit OS. Everything seems to work. Was editing(trying) some old photos.

Is there something different about the 'overlay' mode? I used to used it too lighten or darken an image by overlaying a white or black sometimes gray layer. Has something changed? Tried reinstalling the program, thinking that it might be corrupted. No change. The only change I can think of the switch from 32 bit to 64 bit OS

Is there something about the 64 bit version and overlay mode?

Michael

I've recently switched over to Windows 64 bit,
I'm also using Gimp 2.8.14 and the layer mode Overlay hasn't changed.
I also feel that it would take a lot more to lose your/my "slender grip on reality",
then a Gimp overlay mode issues, but that just me. :hehe
You could check what the Image Mode is set to and see if this helps any?

If you want accurate Overlay, use G'MICs layer ability since it matches closer to PS. There was a bug in GIMP's implementation since the very beginning and the creators decided that that bug is a feature. Overlay and Soft Light are one and the same in GIMP. That's just reality. :)
