Operating System: Windows
OS Version: windows 10 1511
GIMP Experience: New User

List any ERROR messages you received:
Runtime Error!
Program:C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\bin\gimp-2.8.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.


Hi all ... long time between drinks ...
Back after an absence ...

just updated from 2.8.14 to 2.8.16 and having problems with a runtime error. I try to export an image as .png and I get the runtime error message and program shutdown. Happens with "export" and "export as" from file menu.

Export works fine with .jpg (well the save as jpg command anyway).

Anyone have any ideas ?

ps ... only thing added to program has been themes and a few brushes so far, otherwise standard install.Evrything updated fine as far as I can tell, except for this error.

This could be a couple of things.
1) The image is too large to process as a PNG image for your system. (PNG's are MUCH larger than JPG's)
2) Restarting GIMP AFTER saving your work as XCF may work. Reopen the XCF and try again. The XCF should be smaller. Without the undos available.

Sorry for length of time to reply ...

Saving as .xcf doesn't seem to help either ... maybe I'll have to uninstall/reinstall and see if that helps ....
